If you don’t know Raf Simons, he is one of the most successful and creative fashion designers in the world. Born in Neerpelt in 1968, Raf went on to graduate from the Genk School of Industrial Design in 1991. A few years later after he attended a Martin Margiela parade, he found his calling to become a stylist. From there he taught fashion for 5 years in Austria before launching Raf by Raf Simons. His brand has focused on mainly modern, architectural and clean designs.
Many pieces from his collections have become timeless and very popular over the years, one of the most recent ones being the Ozweego sneaker. Raf Simons collaborated with Adidas to make this unique shoe and it has blown up ever since. Everyone from your favourite rapper to big NBA players are rocking them but lets get into what makes the Ozweego so great.
Raf Simons Ozweego Review
Right from the jump this sneaker stands out when you’re walking around and will get peoples attention. The shoe features an iconic retro silhouette while at the same time appearing futuristic. Its translucent curved bubbles also add more texture and youth to its appearance. The two brands took leather, textile and rubber materials to compose the shoe, making a unique trio. The Ozweego also has a very comfortable removable foam insole so you’ll feel great wearing these all day. Along with the performance cushioning sockliner, they were really trying to make this sneaker comfortable before anything. The midsole is made of EVA and the outer sole is rubber making it very durable as well meaning you can beat these up pretty good.
Wearing the Ozweego is pretty simple because it pairs with pretty much any streetwear outfit you throw on. With jeans, a hoodie and bomber jacket they will stand out enough on their own especially in brighter colourways. In white, black or the more lowkey colours, the Ozweego becomes a versatile piece that blends in seamlessly. We believe they look the best with pants but you could rock them with shorts too if you wanted.
Overall there isn’t much to say about the Ozweego besides it looks awesome and feels very comfortable on foot. You can grab a pair of them for cheaper than most used Yeezy’s these days and you arguably get a better product. It has become a very hyper sneaker so anyone with some streetwear knowledge will be breaking their neck when you walk by.
